My favourite plant-based/vegan cafes in Brisbane

Rodrigo (my partner) and I love going out for breakfast or brunch. That’s one of our favourite things to do on Saturdays after our usual morning runs. That’s our rewarding after the weekend’s long run – get ourselves a nourishing brunch in one of our favourite cafes.

After becoming vegan, we started looking for cafes focused on plant-based and vegan eating so that we could try different menu options instead of the usual “avo toast” which is normally the only vegan option available in most cafes. Don’t get me wrong, I love an avo toast! We just wanted to see what was out there besides what we already know.

Since then, we’ve been exploring our city and have found nice cafes with amazing food, different menu options, friendly staff and of course, great coffee! You can find the list just below.

Oh, and this is us, nice to meet you! 🙂

Favourite plant-based/vegan cafes in Brisbane

Grown – West End

Website: https://grownbne.com/

Address: 21 Buchanan Street, West End 4101

The first-ever vegan cafe we have found since we’ve changed our diet and we’ve fallen in love with them. They’ve become our number one option for brunch on the weekend. They make you experience a unique combination of flavours including things like the best sesame cheese and homemade vegemite I have ever had. Their toasties are amazing and full of flavour! They’re open for brunch and dinner and both menus have delicious options. Besides the food, the outdoor area is nice and cosy, the staff is friendly and they’re located right next to the river. So we often go for a walk and stop by for brunch. You should really try them out!

Dicki’s – New Farm and Ascot

Website: https://dickis.com.au/

Address: 893 Brunswick St, New Farm 4005

This is definitely one of the best vegan cafes I have ever been to. Their menu is 100% vegan and incredibly delicious! Their meals include a variety of plant-based options including a pesto tofu scramble, mushroom, tempeh, pulled jackfruit, burgers, toasties, bao, e so much more. Their cabinet desserts are amazing as well as their coffee. Rodrigo and I became usual customers as we stop by for brunch at least once a week.

Plant Vibes Cafe – Bowen Hills

Website: https://www.plantvibescafe.com.au/

Address: 52 Brookes Street, Bowen Hills 4006

Their menu is 100% plant-based and it changes seasonally. They serve different options for breakfast with meals that include tofu scramble, pulled jackfruit, turmeric hummus and vegan versions of chicken, bacon and cheese. They also often have a variety of dessert options if you enjoy sweet treats. It’s worth stopping by and getting yourself a nice brunch!

Papermoon – Annerley

Website: https://papermooncoffeehouse.com.au/

Address: 257 Annerley Road, Annerley 4103

We have recently found this place and really enjoyed their food. Their menu includes options such as tofu scramble, mushrooms, roasted pumpkin, delicious pickles and different dessert options. They partner with Wild Spice Kitchen and are a great option for brunch or lunch. The cafe environment is unique and you get a nice vibe as soon as you get inside. It’s a cosy place, with couches, a pool table and music. It’s worth spending some time there!

Cocobliss – Southbank and other places

Website: https://www.cocobliss.com.au/menu

Address: Shop S09-2, 178 Grey Street, Southbank 4101

Cocobliss has always been known for their delicious healthy acai bowls and smoothies, but their menu has expanded and I was so happy that they’ve included lots of plant-based/vegan options for breakfast and lunch. Their menu is not 100% plant-based as it also includes animal products, but the majority of the meals are healthy vegan options. They serve a variety of lunch bowls, acai bowls, smoothies, juices and vegan desserts such as ice cream. Their chia pudding is the best I’ve ever tried. Their meals are balanced and healthy so they could also be a great option for when you’re on the go.

All of these places are located within the Brisbane city centre region as we currently live in West End and had looked for options close by. I’m sure there are options in other suburbs we haven’t been to yet. Let me know in the comments below if you have other places you’d recommend!

Hope that you can enjoy these places and their food as much as we do!

Thanks for being here,

Paula
